Saying that a quite little grenade ("une toute petite grenade") that Berlioz set off between Crosnier's legs the other day makes it impossible to ask anything of him at the moment, that he will repent having thus startled the Seigneur ("ou Saigneur") director; etc.; the grenade refers to the lead of Berlioz's review of Narcisse Girard's opera Le conseil des six that appeared in the Journal des débats of 28 August 1842.
